Environmental Education School Programs

Expand your environmental knowledge with one of our school programs at Pemberton Park. All programs are designed to meet Next Generation science standards of the age range they are offered for.

Bugs and Insects

Discover the different insects that live in our parks, their role in our ecosystem, and the importance of pollinators. This program focuses on diversity, anatomy, life cycles, habitats, and includes the opportunity to examine our insect collection.

Grades: K-5

Adaptation Artistry

Animals can have a wide range of adaptation making life ideal in many diverse habitats. Join us while we explore the different adaptations that make these animals so unique.

Grades: K-5

Herpetology

A hands-on study of the amphibians and reptiles that are native to Maryland and the Eastern Shore. Topics such as adaptations, characteristics and misconceptions will be discussed.

Grades: K-8

Forest Ecology

Learn about local flora and fauna while discussing ecosystems, biodiversity, food chains and adaptations found at Pemberton Park.

Grades: K-8

Wetland Ecology

Participate in a has-on stream study where we will discover the different macroinvertebrates that live in our wetlands. Learn about water quality, pollution and the unique mix of fresh and brackish water.*

*Appropriate footwear and clothing is required

Grades: K-8

Wildlife Investigation

Learn about wildlife native to the Eastern Shore. While using our skull and skins collection, students will learn about the clues animals leave behind and their role in our ecosystem.

Grades: K-8

Project Pollution

Learn about what pollution is and how it affects our environment. Discuss how we can apply what we learned to make the earth a cleaner place to live.
